I bought one of these at the weekend.

    http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=378550&Trail=searchtext >AIR+CONDITIONING

Hose is too short, it doesnt blow out enough and it's not cold enough.

I'm going to take it back later and swap it for a fan.

    Waste of money.

The hoses usually are a bit short; just get a longer one at the DIY store.

We've got one of the ones with two parts, so you have to put the small part outside, which means having it close to a door.

          Pros: Very efficient
Cons: Noisy. Can't use upstairs because of need to have other part outside.

£229! It takes SY a week to earn that. He doesn't think it's cheap.

I also have a De Longhi one. I don't sleep with it on as I find the cold draught causes me a head full of snot in the morning, but I use it to cool the room before bedtime. It works pretty well.

Di Longhi got a bad review on the which website, most model seem to have not very long hoses.

The fact you have to have a window open doesn't help. I need to have them shut as we keep the Norpusses in at night.

Nail 'em to the floor. Failing that use MFs method of tying them to the radiator - would help with insulation too.

The hose is a side issue. If you can have a good airco with a short hose or a tulip airco with a long hose, get the good one and buy a longer hose at the DIY shop; it's a standard size hose (I think 100mm, but a special measuring device known as a 'ruler' will give certainty.

If you have cats you should be able to stick the hose through the catflap.

The hose on mine was about two meters or so. Personally I never found it a problem but I can understand why some people would.
