I know nothing about art. I'm just not such a gobsh!te as to judge something I don't know about.

    HTH, but I doubt it.

      How about this?

I saw this in Madrid, and stood looking for a while, then went and had lunch and came back to look again. It works for me, and certainly puts that 70million quid ‘floozy with shamrocks’ into perspective.
So much going on in that one - you'd need a long while to really see it.

This is my fave - I did Art History for A Level and spent hours pouring over prints of it

Also a big fan of Mainie Jellett, could get lost in some of her's
Very good, but they were ugly bastards in the 15th century.

I'm not really a fan of Picasso.

And happily, you can take a long time over it. It's in a spacious room of its own, not busy on weekdays, and Picasso's small detail studies are shown in the surrounding rooms alond with exhibits from the Spanish civil war. It really leaves an impression; go and see it.

                You just did.

Don't assume that because I'm not a fan of Picasso that I don't know anything about art.

I'm not really a 'fan' either. Guernica left a huge impression on me, but I think that was his absolute peak and the rest almost pales into insignificance. However, at the Reina Sofia in Madrid, you can also see Miro, Dali and other Spanish artists and see the tradition of Spanish painting.

I visited Picasso's house in Mougins and can certainly see why he moved there. The light is fantastic.

I've never been to Madrid - someplace else to add to the "wish" list
