If I broke it for spares I would make a small profit (Screen, chip etc). Plus the idea was to give me some practice at fixing laptops.Originally posted by Drewster View Post£80 for a laptop case.......Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

In a previous life I used to write and manage a database of fault reports. We got a circuit board back for repair and it had a large hole burned through it. The service engineers report said "fault unknown". It still makes me laugh.Originally posted by The Wikir Man View PostShhhhh - that's tomorrow's thread

Have you tried jabbing it with a lucky rabbits' paw? Worked for my mate!Originally posted by suityou01 View PostGot a laptop from ebay and thought it was just the HDD at fault. Not so. Very unstable, sometimes recognises the HDD, sometimes does not.
I was speaking with a laptop technician in the pub last night and he reckons you need to bake the motherboard in the oven to "refloat" the solder joints.
Thought about putting this in technical, but then thought it may be a laugh to put it in here.
Updates later. Anyone been bonkers enough to try this?
