I know for a fact that 18 HBOS jobs came on the market over 2 weeks ago because thats when agents first contacted me about them.

Apparently, managers have been dragging their feet in going through the cv's. I've actually got my interview through a different agent than who first contacted me.

If the OP spoke to an agent about roles advertised on JS yesterday, it was too late. HBOS have already shifted out the unwanted cv's.

Good point. The agent called me about it, I never saw an advert.

      Learn to love agents.

I think you have to be able to balance on the shoulders of a few dozen of your workmates. If you can sing/tap dance that is also much prized I believe.

Nope - I applied the day the first roles were advertised. I initially assumed that I'd priced myself out of it only to see another agency touting a role that was obviously the same one for 25 a day more. The agent said he was suprised as he thought I was a very good match also - so odd that I didn't even get asked for a face to face.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

Be careful sometimes there may be foul play i.e. there may be a dispute between two agents claiming that they represent you and HR in all their infinate wisdom have decided to block you for not wanting the hasstle of sorting out a favourite between the two fueding parties - you never know.

Rule #1 : Ask the agent who sent your CV down for the role, written e-mail confirmation that he did in fact sent it down for that paticular role.

Rule #2: If the agent ignores you or gives you the run around it probably means that he hasn't sent you, either get a different agent to check whether it has been sent down or contact HR - what have you got to lose ?

This seems most likely. Have you foogled the jd to see which other agencies are touting for the same role?

Er, yes! You said you applied as soon as you saw the advert. They already had a tulipload of cv's by then. These roles havent been advertised. But knock yourself out on why you didnt get the call.

                This is the email sent to me by one agent about 2 weeks ago;

                Morning,

Just a quick update for you re; the roles in Halifax.

After all your CV's passed the intial screening, I'm led to believe all of the CV's were submitted last night for review by individual line Managers - we now have 18 positions available.

Hopefully I should be able to come back to you before Friday with some definitive feedback.

There have been a few delays with Managers being busy on the project but this now appears to be moving forward fairly quickly….

                Regards,

I've also done a stint there. Small world.

Actually I applied when I saw the advert on Jobserve and follwed that up with a phone call to speak to the agent as soon as I had hit send - my CV came through while I was talking to him about the role. He sent me the job spec on the 4th March and I chased a number of times between then and now.

I had that all the time when I was in Yorkshire. There was me trekking down South every week and a load of Londoners were doing the same for jobs on my doorstep. In an ideal world we could have swapped jobs.
