That is, I was comparing his situation in an interview to another situation in which someone would be nervous.

In what way does that constitute an implication that Richard enjoys indulging in the same hobbies that Gary Glitter does?

Ad-Hominem. It appears, it's beautifully placed for this ongoing 'discussion' everyone is having over 'Cyber Bullying'. It's basically the approach some posters are having on CUK to descredit other posters of accusing them of 'trolling' and then attempting to discredit their opposing views.
