We all know they are a bunch of cocks because we have had to deal with them over an extended period of time. But there are always new people in this game who take what they say at face value. There seemed to be a group of agencies who targeted people like this and maximised their margins at their expense or wormed contacts and/or roles out of them. Yes these people would eventually learn, but this site did highlight the sharp practices employed by some agencies

Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

How is that a trolling message? He makes a good point. Richard is moaning about something that has been happening for years. Lets face it, when we get a new contract, do we go around informing all the agencies that have been helping us find contracts, to let them know that we won't be needing their services? Nope, because we're alright now jack ... until we need them for our next contract.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostGood post RC. Even got attention from this troll.
Its a dog eat dog world. Agencies want us for the cut of the wage they get ...... we want agencies in order to get a job. Thats the way the world is. It does amaze me how some people on this forum still act like they are discovering this concept for the first time.Comment

I agree with everything that has been said about CP except this:Originally posted by suityou01 View Postand now, Dodgy Agent, over to you.
Jesus Christ, some people would be well served to ditch the "I don't have an invite to Abigail's 10th birthday party and I invited her to mine last year" attitude.
If you have not picked up on the 'Agents are a bunch of cocks' idea after 15 years you should be leaving the business. Live with it and move on.
To which I say so damn well what if RC doesnt want to deal with CP. His reasons for not doing so are entirely his to exercise.
By the way RC Ahem
you know where to come if you need contractors.

You are missing the point. This is nothing whatsoever to do with understanding how the agency "game" works. If an agency chooses to treat contractors badly then the quid pro quo is that the contractors may decide not to use them when they themselves have requirements.Originally posted by NeverBeenNorthOfTheM25 View PostHow is that a trolling message? Au Contraire, I think it is you that missed my point ...... 'You reap what you sow' ...... exactly, so an agency p''' you off, so you dont help them in the future. Uhhh, thats just obvious. Richard didnt need to write a diatribe about it.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostYou are missing the point. This is nothing whatsoever to do with understanding how the agency "game" works. You reap what you sow
Incidentally if this contract ends and this agency call him regarding a position I bet he will be the first to forget his moral values over this, and go through them to get the contract. Or will he just sit collecting his £64 a week from the Social happy in the knowledge that the agency werent going to get a cut from his money .......
We all moan about agencies, but we're the first to forget about our grievances if it looks like they can land us a plum contract.Comment

You are right, but I do think that this site is the perfect place to let out criticisms of computer people.Originally posted by NeverBeenNorthOfTheM25 View PostAu Contraire, I think it is you that missed my point ...... True. I've said many times I'll never work through Computer People again, but if they come up with a decent gig then I'll pretend I never said it and take the money.Originally posted by NeverBeenNorthOfTheM25 View PostWe all moan about agencies, but we're the first to forget about our grievances if it looks like they can land us a plum contract.Comment
