Been recruiting myself lately and CV's have been awful - only two credible ones, and one of those interviewed really badly. And this is from an agency on fixed cut.

The problems have been a mix of spelling (recruiting for a Test Manager), no-one sector experience, and the odd one from Bob who can't have the 257 million skillsets he claim to be an expert in!

Can only think problem is location (little out of the way) and agents not knowing what they're recruiting for.

      Er, WTF is that?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

That is exactly what is happening and I have direct personal proof. I gave in my notice on my current role a couple of weeks ago. The agency initially advertised the role as a fixed pro-rata rate which worked out at next to nothing. They clearly got few or no CV's and are now re-advertising on a rate of £70 per day less than I am on. And part of the reason I'm off is the crap rate !!
