kalashnikov is a reference to assault rifles "made" by Mr Kalashnikov, designs that pretty closely resemble MP44...

AK47 is a kalashnikov, old version - in 80s it was more common to see AK74, standard issue at the time.

The designation AK-47 stands for Kalashnikov automatic rifle, model of 1947 (Russian: Автомат Калашникова 47, tr. Avtomat Kalashnikova 47).
