I suppose it would be "nuclear reactor control systems" that you would test rather than the reactor itself - that and aircraft / air traffic control would be the scariest things to sign off & put your name to - has anyone on this board ever worked on such systems - if so what was your level of PI cover required ?

I used to work on Nuclear Reactors - data loggers, software by Scomagg, beautiful 19" screens, S-NET thermocouples, all running atop of the OS of choice, never bettered, VMS.....

And this was 1994!

PI cover, I honestly don't remember having any back then, but I do remember being on £18.82 an hour...

On our site though the reactors weren't controlled by computers, the system we had was purely a logger, but the fact is the operators used it to 'drive' the reactor and wouldn't startup the reactor without it working.

The reactors where built in the 50's and looked it, very Quatermass-y!

I think that was my favourite contract, my second one, I knew nowt about contracting probably still don't....
