No cigar!
Minor disaster yesterday. Switched on a table lamp and with a loud bang it took out the lights in the living room.
By the time I'd dug out a torch to disconnect the lamp then switch everything on again, my local purveyor of fine cigars had shut up shop, so no cigars to go with today's after dinner brandy
Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

4 kids: 2 the age for 'toys', 2 the age and gender for 'gadgets'.
This year, we didn't buy a single battery, let alone multipacks.....Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.Comment

Got it sorted, the local farmer has a two oven Aga. Just finished a late dinner which all turned out superbly and we all got a leg (all three of us).Originally posted by Sysman View PostI wondered why you were setting off at 6am to pick up the goose.
Did you get it from somewhere near Sellafield/Windscale/Calder Abbey/Seascale*?

Feck yer turkey, if you've never tried it do yourself a favour and cook a goose next year.Comment

I think I might have spotted where you are going wrong.Originally posted by Diver View PostI broke the fan oven dial on the cooking range yesterday (Dropped a glass shelf on it and snapped it off).
Had to strip the range down, nick the dail from the grill and put it in place of the oven switch.
and all before the missus got home from work.
Told her what happened, and that Christmas dinner was nearly a disaster.
HER = Er! it's a range, there are two ovens and I only ever use the one, you could have left it until after Christmas
And my windscreen on the car cracked
Last year the TV packed up
Year before the Fridge Freezer packed up
Year before that The washing machine packed up
All a few days before Christmas

You think "Poetic Justice?"Originally posted by Gonzo View PostI think I might have spotted where you are going wrong.

Nah! There was a small chip on the windscreen since I've had the car. The combination of extreme cold and my putting the blow heater to the screen at full blast caused some minor expansion issues
.
Still, Lucky I have full comp insurance with glass cover
