Took SY02 - 05 to Asda "big shopping" this morning. Treacherous roads and I wish SY02 has done the shopping before the snow, and tbh so does she.

Had to dig the car out, clear the path, pavement, road.

And there's more on the way FFS

Still at least we don't need to go out again until January now.

Just started snowing here (South Wales) Light as yet but I think we're due for a white-out by the look of the cloud cover

Am wondering if I should even bother trying to get to luton for a 10.30am flight tomorrow?

From Northamptonshire? I'd get up nice n early and check the road reports. Luton airport is business as usual as far as I understand it. The approach roads are the usual issue. I live around 10 minutes from the airport so if I can be of any help please let me know (switch to PMs)

I'm usually up around 7 with the kids so can give you an update from the coalface as it were.

Thanks, but in order to get in early enough for my flight, I'd have to leave about 6am to do what should be a 45 min journey (in normal conditions) to make it for 9.

If we have the snow predicted tonight, then I don't see the point in possibly taking 2-3 hours on sh!tty roads for a possibly cancelled flight. Not worth it as I'm only over for 2 days, if that.

and there's the chance of getting stuck in Ireland, as the local airport is notorious for cancelling flights for even slight bad weather.

I'm just not looking forward to breaking the bad news to my folks

secretly relieved I can wimp out of going and stay in the warm, and want someone else to break the bad news

I wish, my mother is a complete psycho and I was only going over as she wasn't well a while back.

I will be imbibing plenty of b'day drinks to psyche myself up for that
