I've seen all those Japanese so called horror/thriller films (The Eye, Grudge, Audition etc etc). I found them greatly overrated.

So saying that, I liked Old Boy and especially Ichi The Killer.

Seen so many horror movies over the years I just find them all a right old laugh.

Prefer a good comedy or psychological drama myself but here are a few not already mentioned
      The Burning
Friday the 13th before things got a little silly (can`t beat a teen virgin slasher movie )

      Anyone remember Rabid Grannies?

And an Italian Movie where folks turn into monsters during the movie (can`t remember the name of it now).
UPDATEDemons was the name I think.

        Demons (Demoni)?
A group of people are trapped in a large West Berlin movie theater infected by ravenous demons whom proceed to kill and posses the humans one-by-one thereby multiplying their numbers.

I'm surprised Cannibal Holocaust hasn't been mentioned so far ..
The close proximity of the letters 'G' and 'T' are the reason I'll never again send an important email and end it with "Regards" ....

Thought Ring etc. were overrated, but liked Audition (same director as Ichi the Killer, Takashi Miike's other films are completely mental). Also rate Old Boy and Chan Wook Park's other films (Korean, not Japanese). Shutter is Thai (someone said it was Japanese earlier in the thread) and The Eye was filmed in various Asian countries (not Japan).

                American Werewolf in London
                The Shining
                The Exorcist
                The People Under the Stairs
                The Wicker Man

I quite like the gorefests, if not taken too seriously. What I hate is the "make you jump" style of horror. Partly because I don't like being made to jump, but also I think it's a really cheap trick. I don't like the teen slashers films much either.

                  Mine, in no particular order:
                  • A Nightmare on Elm Street - the first one
                  • Scream - the first one but the other two were OK
                  • The Ring
                  • The Grudge
                  • The Fog - the original
                  • The Faculty

I liked Cannibal Holocaust but a couple of my friends really hated it. I think it disturbed them a little bit too much.
