They must have about 100 police round Central station tonight as I passed through, asking for ID from anyone they picked out, seemed to have some 'pole' thing with lights on the top at every entrance. I assume it was maybe a metal detector of some kind and it would flash red, orange or green when people passed by.
From what I seen they stopped a business type female, a few delinquents and an 'olive' skinned girl.
36 quid over time though and a new initiative that will be in the papers tomorrow which will be hailed as a success.
The usual junkie beggars that hang about the station were half way up the street in some kind of commotion, obviously upset about being displaced from their begging patches. Like wiping tulipe round you arsehole with a bit of news paper really.
On the 'pole' which looks likely to be coming to a station near you soon...
Many looked surprised by the presence of the groundbreaking Ferroguard pole metal detectors that were rolled out across the city’s bus and train stations
Don't know why someone got their cider confiscated as well. I walked through the 'lines' 4 times with a bottle of 10 year old Jura in my bag. Does the confiscation of booze have a scale on the quality of the booze?
EDIT: reading it again the chap was 16
