    And maybe lose the lot

If you throw your lot in with NS&I Index linked then the only way you'll be on the streets is if the UK Govt can't pay you back. If we get to that point then it's not worth worrying about anyway as it'll be beans and bunkers time.

Well, I've just counted and I've got 11 tins of beans

All I need now is the bunker

        What's a currency collapse scenario?

        e.g. a fast collapse scenario:

        Day1:
        • LSE suffers a 'technical' fault
        • Banks stop trading
        • People start stampeding at supermarkets and petrol stations

        Day2:
        • Cash other than Yuan not accepted anywhere and credit cards don't work
        • Forget about redeeming any paper gold or other paper wealth, shares, etc, it's long gone and worthless

        Day 3:
        • Rioting and looting begin

Dear SY01, I hope this does not come as disappointing news, but there is no way on earth you are within 25% of that end of the scale.

When its not physically in your hand (ie paper) it's quite hard to get any tins of beans for your gold.
