Having used it for months, I can let you know now - It's as steady as a rock and works fine.

(I am running it on a brand new PC though, with a 1366 motherboard and 920 Intel CPU. But I've read that it is highly backward compatible, and few people have run into problems unless they're dumb enough to try and install it over an existing Windows, which is asking for trouble and always has been.)

Windows 7 appears to be very good.

I've been running it since the release candidate came out.

But would I bother upgrading a working copy of XP? Nope.

Would I bother (risk) upgrading a working copy of Vista? Nope.

But if you are ordering a new PC and it comes with Windows 7, don't worry, all MS have done is stick a new startup screen on XP.

I've not had any problems with Vista on machines that came with Vista.

And if you had XP and you "upgraded" to Vista, well...

That's almost unheard of.

Mine works........

Well, except for IE which broke so much that I have to use Firefox.
Oh, and the scanner only works in a Windows 98 Virtual Machine.
And the Explorer views won't stay set as I want them - works in XP
And it takes 2Gb of my precious RAM just to run leaving not a lot for the other Virtual Machines I want to play with.

Better than DOS though!

Its fine. Provided you have HUGE amounts of memory. And very fast CPU.
