And what was it before, 1%? What is the unemployment in some council estates in UK, like over than that?

What exactly is "daft" in your view - success of euro as a currency or Eastern Europe getting some back for being sold out to the USSR occupation 60 years ago?

I don't think much "selling" was involved.

The Czech's will be shamelessly bullied into submission. They will sign and Blair will be el Presidente, and the corrupt EU juggernaut will steam on.

Lisbon Treaty is good because it is designed to prevent a couple of non-team players who enjoy benefits of being in EU but do not want to be team players, also it is designed to prevent small countries holding hostage whole EU decision making process because of their own historical or current petty differences.

            I hate agreeing with AtW.

Exactly what benefits? Institutional corruption? The French and Germans looking after their own at the expense of the whole? Lack of democracy/accountability? Do you believe that Napoleanic law is better than British common law?

And what exactly where the allies supposed to do?

We can sit back and judge their actions in horror at the expediency the allies showed in the face of Katyn and the consequent o'Malley report etc

They didnt sell out Eastern Europe, it was war and everybody was trying to save their own @rses, and IMHO the assistance of the Soviet "allies" was fundemntal to the liberation of Western Europe from the Nazis.

The fact that the Soviet troops raped and plundered their way through EE and Germany is horrible and not fair(A very mild description based on the sufferering they caused), but if you can perhaps enlighten as to what else the other allies where supposed to do other than court the Russians I would be quite interested.
