I'm going.. twice in one week, next week. Tuesday and Thursday as my agent and work have seperately booked tables on seperate days. I was told if you dont arrive by 11 then your queuing "1 out, 1 in" to get in, earlier if its a weekend and from last years stuttgart festival I can believe it.

I was at the Stuttgart Canstater () last year and it was so much fun. Beer served by the litre in porcelin tankards, half chicken and chips being the main food substance and lots of dancing on tables, singing and making good friends with those around you even though you dont speak the same language. There is no violence or agression (other than the waitresses who dont take any carp) and as TLG says one HUUUUGE p!ss up.

    Cant wait.

Do you know the words to all the songs?

I am attending Stuttgart this year.
If you like fish then try the Stekerl fish from outside the Fischlerei tent. Charcoal grilled mackerel. It is fantastic. Make sure it is freshly cooked and eat it hot.

The 1 in 1 out is not normal for any of the fests, only at peak times.

TW: I know enough of the songs. Lots are English songs anyway. You will here Country Roads, Hey Jude and Alice (who the ****) is alice.

Try going to the Starkbierfest in Munich in March, you'll be legless after 1-2 beers
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

The waitresses (who I'm sure have pretty German titles) must be have fingers like sausages. The beer Steins can weigh 5 lbs and they might carry about 8 of them.

How is this woman supporting all those beers for example?

Actually they need small hands to carry more glasses. The ladies can fit their hands throught he handles which the men cant. I believe the record is 14 of those at once. A ring of 6 in each hand and then one sitting atop each ring. Very impressive. A lot of the Bedienung (German title) tend to rest a lot of the weight on their ample bussoms. Some are remarkably petite for the feats of strength they perform each day.

They are not paid as you would expect either. They have to buy a "licence" to sell the bier. They pay a little less than they charge you (it is a fixed amount) for the bier. The woman I spoke to said it takes her the first week to pay off the licence and the second week is hers. She uses the money to pay for her family holiday.
That si why they carry as much as they can and work as fast as they can.

If you are a big group and need a table then asking a waitress to help and ordering 20 biers is a good plan. You usualy need to be able to do this in German though.

The beers do often appear to have rather "impressive" heads, but discounting that, 14 Steins might weigh in at something like 70 lbs hanging off their ample Brüste

Steins are the fancy ones with lids.
The pot ones you see at fests are called Krug.
The glass ones are called Mass and I believe they weigh about 1 kilo, so 2 full.

The litre mark is about 2/3 the way up and the head usualy settles to the line though Oktoberfest is renowned for short measures. It is oft said that they make more money from the bier they dont sell.

Ah, 14 glass ones comes to 14 Kg (excluding the weight of the glass), which is a bit more like it. Still, that's a fair weight hanging off your fingers, or Brüste.
