      Disconnect it but leave it where it is. Fit another in a discrete location and say it is a smoke alarm.

              suprisingly she is foreign, however she does speak english, dammit!

              last night she called me saying if i dont apologise to her mother then its over.

                      That still leaves the "Have you turned the heating off its freezing in here" debate!

                      Often when I go abroad on business, I am greeted with "oh it was so lovely and warm while you were gone" - yes the thermostat is on 27+
