This has finished hasn't it? I was going to say Batman.
Batman might have been an excellent suggestion, except for the bit where he fled into the desert with his followers, got a stranglehold on the spice trade, his eyes turned weirdly blue and he trained up the freemen to attack the emperor
and the worms

I missed all that, Batman fitted the criteria of the first post although how the Wayne’s became so rich isn't well known.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I thought this was the answer 6 hours ago... why are people still guessing?
