IMO there should be some sort of aptitude test before an election to determine whether a person is fit to vote.... perhaps five simple questions on a voting slip that even an imbecile can answer... if they fail then the vote is void.

Labour voters certainly have no right to complain about banks, pensions, immigration, wasteful public spending and the debt situation. They voted for it !!
Nah! I've got a better idea.

Ballot forms should be sold, like lottery tickets.

    I suggest £50 each, or a book of 1000 for £42K.

This will keep the riff-raff vote down and allow proper people like Cyberman to cash in on all that is rightfully his.

    Cock!

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

That sounds a good idea.... it guarantees that the people that probably contribute most in their taxes would get the majority of the votes rather than the waster majority continuing to vote in the most generous benefit-givers.

        Yep.

It's about time this democracy idea was thrown in the bin.

Actually, haven written that, I find my self 'toying' with it, and almost agreeing with it.

Fact: 95% (or thereabouts) of people are thick as pigtulip.

Fact: These pigtulip-thick people are allowed to vote.

Fact: The result of voting by pigtulip-thick people delivers the administration we endure today.

        What do we do?

Well, I think we should still let the pigtulip-thick people vote, because the alternative is too horrific to contemplate.

What about only allowing those that are net tax givers the vote ? Then the country would be run in order to keep taxpayers happy.

            Well, it's tempting.

I'm sure you have paid tons of tax into the treasury coffers, as have I, and seen very little for it.

However, democracy demands that each and every person should have a vote with the same weight, be they rich or poor.

That is still the best system in my opinion. If the poor have no vote, and no voice, the society that that would produce would be horrific.

On the up side. Cybertwat is retired so he would not get to vote.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Pensioners pay tax, so I would still be a net taxpayer. Sorry to disillusion you !!
