They mention huge job cuts, but no mention of the huge job increases in the incredibly inefficient public sector since 1997 under the spendthrift, 'no return to boom and bust' chancellor, who has given us so must extra debt that it will not be repaid until 2032.

Back to the subject though, I suspect that most of these job cuts will be posts not created. Where they have a need for somebody but don't take anybody on. I doubt very much that even a third will lose their job. Also, when there are huge numbers in the private sector should the public sector be immune?

I disagree. Doctors and nurses in general are some use in society, unlike IT geeks. And you need to have worked hard in school and on your degree so there should be some rewards.

Are you sure you want all those public sector cuts? They sustain demand for private sector goods and services.
Public sector cuts leads to private sector ones - especially for IT contractors.

I think the 60K pay and conditions they used to be on was a fairer reflection of their worth. The NHS is a black hole that may bankrupt this country.

Why should a doctor who's cleverer and more use to society than you earn less than you? I assume you earn more than £60k?

The NHS is a different issue and I agree with you there.
But if we had a private system doctors would earn even more as they do in the US - the best doctors are millionaires.

I didn't say I wanted them. I said most will be roles that they will just cut without ever having employed anybody to do that role.

Our public sector is too bloated and there are a lot of non jobs which should be cut back.
