Coz' you are a knobhead, nuLieBore, frakking c....

When you look back, it turns out that pretty darn much from the middle of 2007 I had it right.
Bollox you did. Zero interest rates and QE is frakking madness.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Three pints of what was it HAB?

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

This guy was right. Interest rates should have been cut months before they were. He deserves his award.

Yeah we should have cut them when house price inflation started to fall, that way the boom could have lasted a bit longer The taxpayer could have bailed out more banks.

---Back down from Cloud Cuckoo Land----

The reality is The Government were eventually FORCED to cut them when the whole system started to collapse.
The system got into the mess through cheap money loaned out without proper due dilligence. Monetary policy helped to encourage this idiotic boom. But then New Labour were getting a lot of Stamp duty and the economy was flowing with 'free' cash.

To prevent a collapse interest rates should have been higher much earlier (as early as 2003/4). The fact they were not, helped to fuel the mess we are in. The supply of cheap money fuelled the boom , it was never simply the "supply and demand" for housing as many idiots professed.

I'd rather give an award to Vince Cable, at least he seemed to know the action that should have been taken years ago (as did most people with a basic grasp of economics). Talking about what should have been done a year ago is a pointless diversion, the bubble was almost ready to burst by then.

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

                yeah but it's relative.

Well I did predict this last year. I was the lone voice of these forums who got this right (the other 2 SGs didn't agree with me).

But I have to admit it was an easy call. When an economy is based on froth, it's easy to "re-froth" it so to speak. Germany is suffering because it had a real economy to lose in the first place.
