It may not acheive anything in itself, but it does raise the profile of the issue considerably.
In principle, I have nothing against paying the same amount of tax on all my income, regardless of source (as in France). However, there are much simpler ways to enforce this than some half-arsed idea where no-one really knows whether they are inside or outside the legislation.

A simpler tax system is in order - scrap the idea of tax credits etc. and make it so that you don't need to spend £3k on tax bills (as the Chancellor has to!)

If it is repealed what are the chances that the decision will be retrospective? Totally bugger all.

Wow, looks like the Lib Dems have got their heads screwed on.

I had an Early Day Motion, glad the client was paying for it.

I don't have a problem with that. I have problems with IR35, but that's not one of them.

They're desperate for more tax revenue, and the same will be true for whoever wins the next election

Our view is that the best way to fund the tax cut is to reduce some of the continuing allowances (high rate pension tax relief) and other loopholes (corporate gains tax at 18% versus the now 50% income tax on high earners).

Anyone faxed Dawn yet? The absence of my Tory MP on list speaks volumes, can't wait for him to come a knocking so I can ask why?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
