Sandhurst
MY mate got into Sandhurst and is now a first lute in Basra for his trouble
He was 28, one year as luitenant in SADF ( South African Defence force), degree in chemistry from an SA uni.
He said that most of the guys there were from priveledged backgrounds just out of school as well as a fair contigent of ver rich kids from Asian and Arab backgrounds
He said the training was tough, but not anything like SADF. He is a good leader and I wouldnt have a problem going into a conflict situation knowing he was in charge although saying that, my military experience is minimal.
In short I think they reserve some spots for privelege and some for people who actually do fulfil the criteria.
By his own admittance he reckons that if he stays his chances of going any higher than a captain or major are pretty remote
My 5pence worthThere are no evil thoughts except one: the refusal to thinkComment
