Chin up GJ, there are decent jobs out there.

I've been offered a 60k permie role which I think I may just take it for the experience, CV etc and jump back out in to contract land once the local market can sustain my rate again

I always think I'll do crap in interviews, but it really does depend on what happens on the day and what the client is looking for. Turned out this one went really well. I've had previous interviews that went as well where I didn't get the gig.

I've had few calls this morning regarding gov work, it seems the next wave of public money may have been unleashed?

I don't think there are any tickets for the gravy train just yet, there's a handcar with a stiff lever at the bottom of a very steep hill though.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
