You could say the collapse of the banking system was more down to Brown's tripartite regulatory system that couldn't regulate a piss up in a brewery."I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. If they're not good enough, they'll not win - and they can't look at anybody else, whether it is referees or any other influence." - Walter Smith

Love her or hate her she had conviction. Something sadly lacking today....my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

CDS and Derivatives were never an NL creation - if you want to blame a goverment then it was the Democrats in the US under Clinton who 'de-regulated' the financial market a few years ago that led to this.
Much of the regulation they swept aside was there to prevent a 30s type recession.Comment

Not only did she have conviction, but she transformed our economy from the 'sick man of Europe' into one of the best in Europe. Labour under Blair and Brown have reset the economy of the UK from massive growth of the 90s back to the dire days of 1979. It really is a very sad situation and was entirely predictable.Comment

They dont have an industrial base to generate wealth as Thatcher chose to sacrifice our industries on the alter of City Capitalism - that led to a boom more concentrated in London - if you didnt live in London - chacnes were - you were on the dole - or armed services ir maye a job in Bournemouth as a dishwasher.
Greed is good and all that jazz.
As for so called conviction politicans - Im sick of them - Hitler was a 'conviction' politican- look where that led to.

The fact is that she turned the economy around, and that has to be applauded, unless of course you prefer to live in a high tax, high benefits, low productivity and destitute country that we are now returning to.Comment
