    Some of my contracts had notice periods, some didn't. The usual analogy is that if you got a builder in to build you an extension and he left after doing half the job, how would you feel?

    You are not an employee, you have contracted to perform a service or services for a set period.

    Do you have a substitution clause?

    Have you looked at the state of the market?

    Have you signed the contract in a personal capacity? (if not, you could close the company and leave).
