      It isn't a full return to Keynesian ecconomics. But.. explain how monetarism could have been used to get us out of the banking poo (as Paxman said the other night)?

          I never learnt about Keynes but all of the above is just pure economic common sense to me. My view is that the current government just let their strive for votes outweigh commonsense.

                      I'd like to think so, but when the likes of John Redwood were asking for further deregulation of the mortgage market, I'd suspect not even with the other lot. Governments are only so powerful in our global economy with complex financial instruments even the bankers don't understand
