I remember that. Here in Germany we didn't have the same media-hype, and guess what? No measle (German or otherwise).

In many ways the Global Warming, err... sorry... Climate Change issue is following the same path. The media will sex it up with apocalyptic images of the earth careering towards a Venutian end with tidal waves etc. (The Day After Tomorrow) and the less educated/informed/quizzical lap it up.

    Poor lambs.

You really don't understand science do you? How do scientists come up with their theories? They have some intuition or common sense idea and create a hypothesis. Then they experiment or model the idea to test it. Then their peers look over the experiment and conclusion to try to avoid bias from the original tester.
Stick to whatver you do for a day job EO. A scientist you are not.

There are no global climate experiments, so scientists use modelling instead.

You are missunderstanding again. Most scientific research is based on modelling. Manufacturing research is based on modelling, Agricultural research is based on modelling. If we needed to scale upward
every experiment many advances would never have been discovered.

What kind of ludite world do you think we live in?

Actually it's a simple statement of fact.
And proves my point that most of you are not educationally (notice I didn't say intellectually as I'll give you the benfit of the doubt) equipped to debate the issue.

Venus is the same size as the earth.

And four hundred years ago you would've believed the world to be flat, eh!

                  absolute nonsense.

most hypotheses are generated by free thinking people who observe something and say 'thats funny'

In your world they jump out of the bath shouting 'Eureka'

Not far off, but definitely smaller. See http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary...h_sun_fact.pdf

just think how much weight that would give to your argument, if only it were true
