It brightens up the dullest part of the year. And it's crackingly cheap if you book early enough. This'll be our most expensive trip yet at £110 all in plus spends.... Not cheap... expect 8-10 euros for a beer, 4-5 euros for a cup of tea or coffee

Not cheap you're right, and even being wary, you can still get caught out (9 euros for a coffee and 2 croissants anyone?).
Mostly we found side street Brassaries or Happy hours to keep the beer prices down to 4 - 5 Euros a pint! Imagine that, getting home and saying we "only" paid £4 a pint
But we spent some monet and had a great time, catching up with cutlure, good food and lots of drink!'elf and safety guruComment

Me and the wife have always rented an apartment even if it were for a long weekend, far better than a hotel. Probably best for a week though, come and go as you please.

The Japanese appear to have trouble with Paris:
October 23, 2006 -- Several Japanese tourists have so much trouble adjusting while they're visiting Paris that they need psychological counseling, according to a French newspaper.
About 12 a year need treatment for what Le Journal du Dimanche calls "Paris Syndrome," caused when the city's reality clashes with one's high expectations.
"A third of patients get better immediately, a third suffer relapses, and the rest have psychoses," added Yousef Mahmoudia, a psychologist at the Hotel-Dieu hospital.
