There was a story similar to this just before Christmas but it was Spanish workers who were preferred that time.Comment

It is discrimination against the British. At least 90% of these jobs should go to British IMO.
Some of these jobs will require highly skilled workers and can provide a lifetime career for 30-40 years, but these will go to Poles while British people that could have had a career will languish on the dole or stack supermarket shelves.

Very true.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostThat’s because Britain’s only got ‘International Marketing Management’ and ‘Golf Course Management’ and ‘Media Studies’ graduates, who aren’t really very good at building nuclear power stations.
If this was Germany or France they'd have their own engineers and builders who can do the job.
For a very long time this country has looked at Engineers as grease monkeys rather than the innovators who add value and get things done.
Unsurprising really that this country can't produce anything these days.Comment

A lot of the preliminary work is purely manual building work. I'm sure that we have a few builders currently looking for employment.

Have you ever done any building work?Originally posted by Cyberman View PostA lot of the preliminary work is purely manual building work. I'm sure that we have a few builders currently looking for employment.
Building is skilled work. It requires a lot of unskilled labour to carry and do odd and sods but the actual 'building' part is skilled.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

That is what I said. Builders are skilled as builders, or is that not obvious !!!

Poland has no nuclear power, so why on earth they would employ Poles unless they are cheap. Better off with Romanians who are even cheaper and have Nuclear expertiseLet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

They wouldn't be cheaper; they’d be more expensive because they have ‘expertise’.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostPoland has no nuclear power, so why on earth they would employ Poles unless they are cheap.
