Beware. I know a chap in NL who was nearly bankrupted when he followed his dream and bought a French chateau for next to nothing, that had been inhabited by drug addicts and squatters. He planned to rent out a few rooms as a posh B&B and otherwise sit around enjoying his wine. Sounds idyllic, but after spending about 400,000 euros on doing the place up and redecorating twice, the smell of piss just wouldn’t go away and the place became known at the local tourist information office as ‘Hotel le Pissoir’. He sold it on for 200,000 and returned to NL to become a permie with the government, desperately hoping to get a very modest pension at 65.Originally posted by sasguru View PostExcellent.
