They do the same thing here in NL at the tax office and the social security office. If you’ve got previous experience you get 25 ‘preference points’ in the interview process, which means you’re almost guaranteed an interview. The fact that any decent techie with experience at one of those organisations vows never to return, coupled with the fact that there are lots of good people who haven’t worked there before, ensures that they just keep recycling the same old tulip, as Badger says.

Oh, and I reckon skiing in Argentina is probably bloody brilliant. Especially the parties; good, cheap wine, good barbecues, good looking women. Hmmm, I could live that way.

I will say this however from the bits I've picked up from my MBA about life in the commercial world: the NHS is a completely different ball game. The NHS takes on contractors who can hit the road running and are up to speed on all the latest Dept. of Health guidelines, local governement guidelines (social services etc) and have an understanding about national and regional targets along with average performance figures (which change every few weeks it seems).

They also want people who understand the terminology (some of which is in latin) from day one. They ask for this because they don't want to hire contractors only to then have to explain why this idea you proposed wouldn't work because in infringes upon this part of the national target or conflicts with the local targets agreed for one of the supporting services (pathology etc).
So nothing about providing the best healthcare then? Just buzzwords and government tickboxes?

        Thank god for Labour eh?

This pile of utter bollux is why the NHS should be dismantled forthwith.
          Hard Brexit now!

Pretty much. Once NHS is on your CV you can kiss goodbye to anything else.

No offence but I'll stick to the private sector. I did have a brush with local government in my last contract and they drove me mad with their, namby pamby, secret squirel, cant make a decision in less than a week attitude.

Its the best way to advertise the position with a specific person already signed up. Its just a paper exercise. Kinda like the work permit rules.

I don’t know who arranges trips there. My mate’s spent a while in Cerro Castro, but it’s summer in the southern hemisphere now, so he’s probably on a beach somewhere near Buenos Aires. He does a bit of the personal training with rich folks to supplement his income; that’s how I know him, we were on the same fitness trainers’ course a few years ago. Apparently Cerro Castro, near Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, is just amazing. The slopes run down to the coast, life’s fun and Argentina’s dirt cheap once you get out of the big cities. I think if you’ve got 50k euros saved up you could probably hold out for a few years there, especially if you get yourself an evening job in a tourist bar and you’re happy living in a bedsit. I’m just a little old for all that; Mrs Tester’s got used to luxury and comfort these days, but it’s still an option for getting through the recession if I can persuade her some time.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but is there a word for pasting the entire contents of a long thread into your own post, then adding just a brief comment to it? Surely you don't always have to copy the OP or a long response in your own post.
I'm not having a go at anyone, and frankly I won't lose any sleep over it, just wondered if there was a word that I can match to this minor irritation?
