As a regularly worshipping Christian (C of E seeing as you asked!) I love Christmas and all that it stands for.
To be honest the whole material thing doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother non-Christians!
Of course me and my family buy presents watch the telly lots and have a good nosh up. Some of them even have a drink or plenty! But I don't confuse this good-time had by all with the reality of Christmas, which happens for me at the Eucharistic Mass on Christmas Morning.
It's the same with the re-naming of Christmas hoo-hah that goes around every year, calling for it to be called Winterval or whatever. You can call the shopping, eating, drinking and televisual frenzy what you want, it won't bother me because I shall be celebrating Christmas.
