You haven't got a leg to stand on there is nothing wrong with it because they fixed the "computer glitch".
It won't have taken years off the pump, the pump is (strangely enough) designed to pump, that's what is has been doing and will be doing for a long time yet.
Get all legal if you want to but all it will do is cost you money and respect (and by all accounts you don't have much of either to waste)

years off the pump! How long to you expect to keep the car?Originally posted by Wilmslow View Post[snip]
Car only 8 months old, and has had strange steering for a while, hence my argument is that the computer fault will have taken years off the life of the pump.
...
Legal bit – if they cannot get the noise back, and considering I have lost faith in the power steering pump, legally what can I do?

My '98 VW has 125K on the clock and the PS pump works great. Its has a small leak so every month I top it up. You're pump will work just fine for years to come. they're nearly indestructable these days.McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
