Except this is the "go completely off topic ASAP" forum..not the "discuss techy stuff to hearts delight" forum.

Non the less, it was quite a decent read...well the two paragraphs I read. The first of which was mainly a put down. After that I just said to myself "F**k it" and moved on to the other postings of witty remarks.
McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."

Back to subject: PHP, I dont like it myself but it does do the job.

I've had a look at PHP, I think it depends entirely who the code is written by. I can quickly learn to ignore reading the preceeding $ signs (which is why they're pretty pointless). The syntax for writing classes seems okay and pretty standard so I expect I'd be happy with it considering the majority of the ugliness can probably be abstracted away.

PHP, like every language, can be easy/difficult to read... depends on the coder.

So true. Apps written using a PHP OO framework that abstracts away the oddities of the core PHP library tend to look very much like apps written in Java or C# .NET apart from the obvious syntax differences.

Its not so much the look of the language to me - it looks like any other C-like language. Its the fact that its scripted. I cant stand scripted languages. I like to be able to step through code. Someone will probably correct me to say theres some Zend product that allows you to step though PHP. Javascript is another language I hate to code - I can't deny its value though.

I agree that the code depends on the coder. A while ago when I was doing perl scripting for a unix box, another programmer took great delight in showing me some code that would do the same as my 30 lines in one line. Clever bit of coding but no-one could read it let alone maintain it.

Ahhh yes Katrina Kaif...hmm the hottest Bollywood star at the Mo. She's an American so you won't here that silly accent.

yeah..I never liked ASP either but it did the job. Hell to debug and doubt I could read the code after a month. Maybe hope with PHP 5?
