Yes they may only be looking, but a child has suffered - God knows what, just so that they can get their kicks.

We need to protect our children and send out a very clear message to people that this behavior is TOTALLY unacceptable.

I feel almost as strongly as that about my neice, who I hardly see these days. So if I had a kid, and anyone harmed them - I'd kill them. Not in a metaphoric way...in a real, my life spent in prison, cut them up way.




But this issue is different to me.

I've said this before on here, but ahem....a friend of mine...gets really turned on by rape. Horrendous, but true.
I dont know if it's the dominant power struggle thing, or just being exposed to The Accused at a horny age, or if this person is genuinely just sick in the head!

I know that they wouldn't actually want to be raped, and I know that they wouldn't actually want to see someone else being raped.....but the *thought* of it...proper turn on.

Should this person be imprisoned?
What if they look at images of it on the internet?
What if they assume these images are staged, but actually they're not?

Can you control what turns you on?

Should you be punsihed for just having the thoughts?


I dont really know the answer to any of these....I just have the questions that's all. And having the questions is enough for me to question the legality of imprisoning people for looking at (or drawing) child images.

That is vaguely the implication, although it's not quite as cut and dried as that in my view. Having children does change the way you view a lot of things in the world so will have a bearing on how you view things such as this.

Fair enough - I knew I'd put myself in the firing line by asking the questions...

I appreciate the emotional place where some people come from with this. It's a very very sensitive issue, and I dont normally know how to handle things with care like this - bull in china shop and all that.

And as I normally go off like a two bob watch, so I'm not going to blame anyone else for doing the same thing.

You've very right when you say everyones opinions are valid - they really are.

I dont even *have* a formed opinion yet - I'm simply asking questions. I dont think that these people shouldn't go to prison. And I think this person in question (in the first post) definately should - half a million pictures, too many.

It's just I really do feel there's a grey area which the normal, every day, angry mob member doesn't consider.
