My understanding is that this can only be a sticking valve seal, which should be a very straightforward fix.

your understanding or this is what someone told you ?

Might it also be warn rings ? which expand once the engine is warm and therefore don't let anymore oil into the chamber hence the smoke disappearing ala common condition with Gardners

      Milan.
Likely, but not necessarily head related. Residual oil in the combustion changer which may well be indicative of valve seals/guides. Your prognosis of worn rings is less likely - but possible. This would more likely cause problems on the overrun.

However all this is assuming it is oil smoke and it may not be. Question is the colour.

In any event there's a sound reasons its Wilmslows for a grand. Its becuase it's a crock. You can safely assume the owner is aware what it's worth mint and knows what the likely repair bill is.

          It's a sockPUPPET!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

            ASB,

            ok,

            Wilmsloooooooow,

if it's rings then the compression should be crap and therefore when you rev it up high then it should take a long time for the revs to drop down to idle cos the engine has no compression

            so make that test

secondly agree with ASB, sounds like a crocketh of merdeth

              Um, also, sorry. An MX5?

My Mum had one, and I drove it a couple of times and while it was a v fun roadster to drive, I felt too much like a hairdresser. And I'm a girl! Nowt wrong with being a hairdresser course, just that um, I'm not one.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.
