My job was to push every tray in the line an inch to ensure they didn't fall on the floor and I did that 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for 4 weeks. I used to alternate finger to amuse myself.

You do a lot of thinking with a job like that.
    Hatfield, by any chance?

Years ago I was an assistant manager in a hotel. Occasionally I'd have to play at being night porter when they rang in sick.

When I wasn't slumped asleep on the reception desk, what amused me most was the number of hookers who visited at all hours.

The door was locked at 11pm and anyone who wanted to come in after this time would have to come past me at reception and show their room key. It always used to tickle me when drunk men would wander down and sheepishly tell me that their "girlfriend" was coming to visit in a while. Said hooker would then arrive and leave usually an hour later. These chaps were even more embarrassed when they saw me at breakfast the next morning

I later found out that one of the night porters (who was slightly older but a bit of a wide boy) had been getting backhanders from an escort agency for recommending them to male guests

        Where to start:

I've worked in an Abattoir. Had to "stun" the cattle with the bolt gun before they met their maker (or a George Forman).

Worked in a butchers (did an apprenticeship there) - I still to this day refuse to even look at faggots.

Worked as a tour guide at Bosworth Battlefield/Shenton Railway.

Worked in Mothercare (they needed a bloke to do the lifting) - mentally scarred is not the word. A 17 year old lad should never be exposed to that store.

          Burgers?

I worked at a motorway service station weekends and holidays during my 'A' levels. It was a good job at the time but I wouldn't fancy doing it now.

Never had a strange job but the worst job (my friend saw ) was the janitor mopping up in the cubicals of the Dr Mullers peep show in Frankfurt.

i had a job on a cable car station. i stood at the terminal, collected and guided the cars round the station whilst unlocking the door with a special allen key, helping the incumbents get off, get the next set on, close the door and run to get the next car.

it was a bugger learning how to get the key in the door before the darn thing went round again. busy days were exactly that. quiet days were hours and hours of cable cars going round that had nobody on them...

Probably the strangest was running Train the Trainer courses. I had to take a bunch of guys from various European places and train them to be good trainers back in their home country.

Two days of me giving powerpoints about how to train. "Speak clearly", "Master your subject".

Then they all gave presentations and I have to judge who would pass and who would fail.

I passed everyone even when they were crap. I'd spent a couple of days with them, they were all nice, and there was nothing in it for me to fail them rather than pass them.

It was all very weird. The company even had this accreditation that I, and one other bloke, were responsible for handing out. We just gave them out to everyone.

Was pretty odd really. Thing is people who work in other jobs would do this kind of thing normally. I find anything without a technical aspect... a bit like you are cheating and not really doing anything real.

                    Odd Job

I once had a temp job placing Adverts for "Saucy Undies" into Porn Mags....

Big Pile of Porn... big pile of Ads...
Open Porn Mag... Slip Advert between pages... close mag....
                    Repeat until lunch time....
