Think of it this way - you'll not have to pay out on accommodation, flights, and other costs that result in living away from home.

Not much chance of going permie - but it's not through want of trying. Employers generally want the 25 year old graduate crowd (don't know why, as they're the first to walk out when they fancy going around the world again). It's going to be any contract I can pick up from now on (at least the client is only after results and doesn't give a toss about "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" crap).

Hum -last day in contract - although I have go 2 adhoc days with the client - one working from home tomorrow ( double glazing being fitted!!) and one day Friday to handover to the new system administrator.

Just turned down 2nd interview for 'fixed term contract' which I feel is the worst of both worlds. This has really 'upset' the Agent as ' I was the strongest candidate' oh well if I'm that good they will pay my day rate.

Most of my calls have been for permie roles - not interested just yet, however I have been tempted by one role which is for an ex-client and is 5 miles down the road - salary not bad ( more then hubby) so I will see what happens. I certainly would not do the miles I do now for a permie role, and the hours would have to be flexible - just may take a lower rate to ride the winter months.

I will see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.........

What's the ideal contractor age then?

          I'm only 21 and 120 months old...

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I am useless. I hardly earn a bean; I am very poor.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Applied for a VOIP Role, which is what I've been doing for the last two years. I've done Projects worth a couple of million, UK multi-site and international....so fairly big stuff......

Ring up the agent, thinking it would be a good fit, but I've been discounted as he says the client wants 10 years plus of telecomms exp....

I know I can do the damn job......

4-5 more years contracting for me, with the mortgage significantly reduced and hopefully paid off, then the missus will be back in work, then I'll seriously consider taking a permie job nearer home.

Only problem is.... what am I going to *do* I'm not sure I can be a developer for ever?
