How many points do you need before you get to do the "brownie"?Originally posted by chef View Postthanks for the warning, everytime this group of friends goes out it's never a cheap night, gf chef loves it, especially as her newly bought dress doesnt have room for a purse and she doesnt have a bag/purse to match.. it's worth a lot of brownie points though so it isnt all bad

Got mine form MatalanOriginally posted by rootsnall View PostAsda, 30odd quid I think.
Probably crap (not that I'd know the difference) but cheaper than renting one for the evening.
Given the calibre of my social circle there isn't much call for me to wear one.Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?Comment

Last Christmas I was invited to attend a clients Christmas bash and it was black tie, I lacked a dinner suit too, I looked in various locals and city shops and found nothing I liked (or was willing to spend that much on) so I bought one online at http://www.clermontdirect.com/.
I was pretty impressed by their service and felt they gave good value for money and delivered quickly.
I did look at cheapo polyester suits and they looked awful, don't buy an el cheapo one, the main part of a dinner suit is its look.Comment

Exactly! 'Black Tie' is not just the jacket though. Here is how it started.Originally posted by expat View PostI haven't worn one since it was called a "dinner jacket" in English. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

M&S have loadsOriginally posted by chef View PostI'm going to the opera in a few weeks and as there's also a birthday involved it's been decided that the men are going in tuxedos
i don't own a tux' and have been told buying one rather than renting is better as it can be adjusted to fit properly.. makes sense
so, does anyone know of a good place to buy a tux in/around Manchester?...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...
