I'd say Thatchers rule was in many respects very positive, in fact let's compare average man UK ruler (King/PM) did and what their women equivalents did and I'd say categorically women in the UK who ruled it made far better. -
Some of them were pretty noddy, however a lot of them are fundamental - I'd say my knowledge of economics (despite learning it in Soviet country) is by far exceeds yours or even average UK citizen.Originally posted by sasguru View PostNo please do post all your degree (101) modules so we can all have a laugh again.Comment

Quite possibly, but equally women can be as barbaric as any man. Plenty of examples in history back that one up, and Thatcher wasn't exactly hesitant in going to war over the Falklands, or giving the nod to blow up a big ship outside of the exclusion zone (Right or wrong).Originally posted by AtW View PostI'd say Thatchers rule was in many respects very positive, in fact let's compare average man UK ruler (King/PM) did and what their women equivalents did and I'd say categorically women in the UK who ruled it made far better.Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith

IIRC none of the Ruling Queens of England ever bowed an inch to foreign pressure.Originally posted by snaw View PostQuite possibly, but equally women can be as barbaric as any man. You should compare this to Hitler, Stalin and others - even this country had its share of men-tyrants though on average you sure did better than some other countries.Originally posted by snaw View PostQuite possibly, but equally women can be as barbaric as any man. Women are no angels and they sure can start war if necessary when it is something like Falklands, but I doubt very much they would play with thermonuclear war type of conflicts.Comment

Indeed. Why else do you think they get nine tenths of everything you own when you divorce them?Originally posted by Diver View PostIIRC none of the Ruling Queens of England ever bowed an inch to foreign pressure.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

But in general yes, I think women are more inclined to diplomacy than men, but is your average women in politics, who makes it to the top a diplomatic kind of person?

You must be joking. Stalin more or less started WW2 with Hitler - during late 30s he was preparing country for war even more so than Hitler - you just need to see a list of divisions that were raised and prepared and number of tanks (more than Axis had during invasion of USSR).Originally posted by snaw View PostWhat like Stalin did - no wait a minute, he didn't start one either ...
Even before that Stalin attacked Finland (was not very successful campaign), but overall Stalin is as guilty in starting WW2 as Hitler was - where do you tihnk Guderian was training his troops? Luftwaffe was trained near Moscow to help Germany bypass Treaty of Versallis (sp?). If I had a gun with just one bullet and Hitler and Stalin in front of me I'd certainly shoot Stalin first, even though I'd try to do it when their heads line up.
Sure they are - and I don't like that. But top position I think is different in that there can be real consequences to family of that woman and women are more inclined to follow path that would protect their family. This does not mean they won't start wars, however they'd think better about those wars that they start - I certainly don't see them starting nuclear war.Originally posted by snaw View PostAny top level manager I ever worked with were always as ruthless and scary, if not more so, than the men.Comment
