    Inheritance Tax

Or indeed spend all that you have, and lots of what you don't. If I ever start feeling close to death I am going to re-mortgage everything I own, max out every last credit card I can get and borrow till the cow's come home and live my twilight years partying, partying, partying.

After all, assets can be inherited, but debt dies.

The government can take my children's inheritance when they pry it from my cold dead fingers....

Sod 'em they've taxed me once, why should they get another slice of the pie? Plus the usual arguments that family's lose the family home etc...

I'll be dead, they (they're purely hypothetical i might add) can do what they bloody well like, but they should be able to do it with the cash I've accumulated.

You might as well say that we'll have 100% income tax but all purchases are tax deductible. (maybe)

So once your kid hits 18, you dont help them out ever? Harsh!
What if you ar still alive, and your no adult daughter, gets ripped off by a crook, divorced by a man who beats her and the kidsl, and is stuck looking after all the kids on a benefit? Would you turn your back? Tell her to toughen up and work her way back up and watch your grandchildren suffer? Or would you offer not just emotional support, but a some money to get her back on her feet?
If you are alive, you would help her. But what if you ahd died 15 years before.. and in a rash of stupidity gave all your money to the HMRC?
Inheritance is about helping to SECURE the future of you family.

We have all seen wnough to know tragedy can happen to anyone and it can be very expensive even on innocent victims.

Being poor does not arm one to become rich, in fact in many ways it stops people from ever achieving anything hence the "poverty trap".
A decent parent should give values to the children so that they are capable of making their way in life no matter what their starting advantage.

I know the 3 children of a local multi millionaire have all been able to choose their paths in life because they dont have to worry about making enough to live on.

On what do you base the assumption that not having to work means not knowing the value of anything and why is it a bad thing?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!
