Interesting - just saw a different table on a US website - they list it by total number of medals. Which means the US come top, and we're joint fifth ...

I wonder why they do it that way.

The BBC are always right of course, so the accepted BBC format wins.

I suspect the American public don't want to be 2nd best and shate on by some chinkies, so they fiddle the table.

The official Olympic table lists Gold medals won first.

As for the GB team, if Michael Phelps wasn't taking performance drugs (come on he his), we would have the same number of Golds as the USA, not bad for a shyte sporting nation.

Agree apart from Phelps - the guy has been tested 40+ times since he arrived in China ffs. He's just got a physiological/natural advantage. Body shape: long torso shorter legs, longer arms, big feet, double jointed, low lactic acid build up so faster recovery etc.

                    Phelps: half-man, half-fish.

                      Depends who came second

Speaking of which, we should impregnate Sharon Davis' eggs with Phelps to be guaranteed at least 8 Gold medals. Failing that, I gather Phelps is phelpless on land...
