Recently got a new PC and I've been running Vista Ultimate on it. It all seems fine to me. I've installed a few games on here to test it out and they are all working fine, most recent games have some vista compatibility patches anyway.
If I wanted to play old games I'd probably install WinXP and dual boot to it. There certainly were a few problems running various games which worked perfectly on 95/98 on XP when it came out.Comment

I've got a Vista laptop (and shock horror a Dell). It's fine. The security stuff causes some problems with applications (I need to fix a problem with an old app that's worked with every other version of Windows since 95 ), and there's been lots of driver issues, but then XP had lots of driver issues too.
It's only really the maturity of XP that makes it better, and Vista has been out a year now and it has it's first service pack. Whether the extra features make it worth having over XP is debatable, and I certainly wouldn't go out and buy Vista as an upgrade, but if you're getting a new system with an OS I wouldn't be put off Vista.
That's my experience of Dell and Vista anyway. Sorry if that's a bit too intelligent for Contractor79.Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

I don't like the new Vista interface. Had to use it last year at a client. I've seen no reason to upgrade my own machines.Comment

ive got a dell xps m1530 and vista home
the thing heats up so much I need to buy a cooler for £30
windwos media player and internet explorer 7 just stopped working for no apparent reason after 4 weeks
no virus or adware or registry problems
after paying £700 I'm not feeling value for money
oh and first time round they delivered me a faulty laptop and promised a full refund, which they did apart from the £70 delivery of that first laptop- furiousLast edited by contractor79; 9 July 2008, 21:15.Comment
