    Although I can't get over £280K for a 6-bed town house.
    Up north too!

That'll be worth £50K in 5 yrs time.

    So you've paid £280K for a £50K home.

    Good work!

I don't own any property, but it does make me chuckle that my rent doesn't even cover the amount the flat's depreciating each month, let alone the mortgage.

Lucky you're not one of my tenants innit

Your rent would be up round your ears now to cover the depreciation

That's OK, I think the rent I'm paying in the south-east would probably rent a mid-sized town in Wales

A brick doesn't become any less of a brick because the market moves...

Bricks are a binary concept, they either are, or aren't.

                  I really will

The fear of the crunch has made me do one thing though.....me and my lad have both just changed our company pensions from £1k per month to £200 per month.
I'd rather that money was in the bank in today's climate. Just in case you doom mongerers are right.

Not a bad call in my opinion, I prefer to have cash available at the moment too and with it offset against my mortgage it's tax efficient.
