As long as they start with the royal family I'll go along with it.

What about candy floss then. CUK's solution to world hunger - get them to mass produce cany floss out of air. If you could fill the gaps with CO2 it would solve global warming at the same time. And the sticks would come in useful for engineering projects like, building a barrage across the severn estuaryOriginally posted by TimberWolf View PostAbout a kilogram per cubic meter. It's mainly the energy we need though, which could be in the form of simple sugars, like what plants produce.

Don't know, but since candy floss is mostly air, air contains most of the ingredients already. I take it you don't take my thesis about making food from thin air seriously then?Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostWhat about candy floss then.

have you ever heard of the breatharians. Apparently they believe you can get sustenance from the air, doesnt stop them dying of starvation though.
I find it easy to believe that humans can live on goo, I was in the army after all

But we do get sustenance from the air - getting through about 1 kilogram of oxygen a day. We don't use the carbon or nitrogen content though (as far as I know). Plants do all the time though, and they havn't even got brains!Originally posted by EternalOptimist View Poster

If you are being serious, then how about this one. Getting more water into australia. They have the elements, they have the energy.

Ah yes, the 'Richard Mousetit Professor of Social Engineering'.Originally posted by Marina View PostAny initiative that involves a kook like Julian Le Grand can safely be ignored
Amazing how often he pops up on the BBC mouthing his very own special brand of crap.
This is very irritating because:
a) my TV licence money goes to pay his generous appearance fee
b) it confirms all my worst suspicions about the cadre of neo-socialists running the BBC
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

Yeah, plants use bacteria that feed on the horse sh 1 te that fix the nitogen, I think, and don't take it directly from the air.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostHavnt got any brains ? my plants like a good dollop of horse sh 1 te, I dont really want to learn too many lessons from them!

Australia is surrounded by ocean, and there's no shortage of sea water available if they've the energy to pump it and desalinate it or grow crops that can tolerate salt. But this is land and soil technology, not air technology.Comment
