Yes, I think Amsterdam offers good nightlife spots (the Leidseplein is a good example) where locals mix with tourists and there is an open policy, which makes it quite easy for the tourists really.

Fir bars yes, bit harder to get into the clubs, especially if you don't arrive early, aren't dutch or female. Then it's pretty much impossible - I lived there and it used to frustrate the hell out of me.

Moscow is much the same for the super clubs (they call it feis-kontrol), unless you're willing to flash the cash, or go with a local.

Smaller spots are happier to let the odd expat/tourist in.

Yeah, you reckon you'd be fooled by a non English speaker faking it with you on the door?

The women idea is the tried and tested method, but is besides the point being made, which is that it's not anything like as easy to get in a club there as a tourist compared to many other cities.

Essentially it boils down to Amsterdam being a weekend stag party destination, so those who're there and not Dutch suffer on the weekends when the stag brigade arrives in town.
