I didn't think that far ahead. Maybe the birds would have been hitting on me for a change.

Funnily enough, when I was studying for a degree in law, we had to go along to a court to watch what was happening and I got mistaken for one of the silks by an usher.

Spitting image, apart from I'm not fat like him.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

At the TA unit I'm in we've always be forbidden to drive to/from exercises/training in Uniform.

We have to wear a jacket over the uniform.

I used to laugh at the air training corps down the road who used to parade about the place in their uniforms, then back to their little wood hut for some more theory.

AFAIK the nearest airfield is Manchester airport, a good 30 miles away, so I had visions of them doing the dambusters down the street on the way home as the closest they ever got to a real aircraft on a regular basis.

Maybe they should re-instate it for the asbo generation to teach them some respect and discipline.

We might laugh atthem but I think that they are already seeing action.

                Armed

I've been to Israel where all soldiers/officers (inc. conscripts) are allowed to carry their guns off-duty and I didn't see anyone abusing them!
One of them even shot an extremist yesterday!

Although part of the reason I stay is that it keeps me with an SC clearance.
