You should be using IBM's Advanced Power Virtualisation on pSeries hardware (AIX) - All you do is dynamically add CPU and memory resources to the micropartition and its job done in a jiffy.

Or you could try adding Workload Manager into the mix which allocates and deallocates hardware resources depending on the rules you set up.

No more downtime to add or replace hardware.....

That is spooky - I was going to suggest that, but I thought it was a bit too geeky.

Instead, I'll make a geek joke.

Milan, your servers are a complete cluster****

The problem is your heap size - the performance issues are one of garbage collection and inneficient code - dont you know...

We get this all the time with dodgy developers. All you get back is "you need better tin, or upgrade the JVM to the latest patch, its not our fault".

Hope that's "finalized" things for you.

Or GridControl for your Oracle database, or Real Application Clusters if you are on the older technology.

So, in answer to the original question - still no. If the client needs to be told, then tell them. It may be that you need to look at the whole solution though.

Failing that, turn the tape over, and use that.

Have you tried upgrading to Vista. It's got some really nice graphics.

nah faqqer, not my job to tell them what they don't want to hear

hence the facade will continue and long may it continue and for as long it continues it will be good and therefore it is good

and that's how it was, and that's how it continued

Misk, it's not only heap size there are a zillion jave tuning parameters in .Net
